LEWISBURG – Plans for a low-income housing development were the topic of a public meeting Wednesday night. The Union County Housing Authority and 70 residents met to discuss the proposed Penn Commons development in East Buffalo Township. Michael Kearney is a consultant on the project and says the development will be a benefit to many residents, “When we had our first job out of college, our kids that graduate from college, a lot of them actually qualify for this housing and they need a decent, safe, affordable place to live.” The PennHOMES program which is providing financing for the project requires potential tenants to undergo criminal background checks and credit screening.
